Circuit Clerk’s Office to Host Passport Registration Day at Lincoln Library

Residents will have an opportunity to apply for a passport this weekend as the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office partners with Lincoln Library to host a Passport Registration Day.

Passport agents from the Circuit Clerk’s Office will process passport applications from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, at Lincoln Library, 326 S. 7th St. in Springfield. Standard passport fees will apply, and current processing times are available through the U.S. Department of State.

The event is intended to provide residents with a convenient opportunity to apply for a passport outside of regular services at the Circuit Clerk’s Office.

“Lincoln Library is happy to partner with the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s office to make passport sign ups more accessible for our community and expand our patrons’ horizons,” said Sara Kumerow, Reference and Adult Services Librarian.

Circuit Clerk Joe Roesch said the outreach event is part of the office’s effort to make passport services more convenient for residents.

“We are pleased to partner with local government, banks and merchants to provide community outreach events,” Roesch said. “Through these events, we hope to make the process of applying for a passport more convenient for everyone.”

Applicants attending the event should bring a certified copy of their birth certificate, a valid photo ID, certified copies of any applicable court orders for a name change, custody or adoption, and two checks or money orders to cover the required passport fees. Passport photos can also be taken on site.

Residents who are unable to attend the event may continue to apply for a passport in person at the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding weekends and court holidays.
