Women, Infants, Children

WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children who meet residency, nutrition and income requirements. The program provides healthy foods, advice and referrals to pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women so that they can stay strong and help their children. Infants receive benefits during their first year while children receive benefits up to age five.

Food Inspection

Restaurants are required to employ a minimum number of staff (depending on the food establishment’s risk category) certified in the 8-Hour Certified Food Manager course. If you are considering opening a new restaurant or have questions about food safety for an existing facility, please call and speak with one of our environmental inspectors.

Immunizations

Adult and childhood immunizations are offered for a nominal fee. The patient must pay for vaccines not supplied by the State, but there are no income restrictions. A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under 18 years of age. Costs of vaccines will vary due to price changes from the manufacturers.

Animal Control

The Sangamon County Animal Control Division is responsible for enforcing state, county and city ordinances (upon request) pertaining to dog and cats; impounding animals found to be in violation of those ordinances; investigating bite incidents; investigating inhumane treatment of animals and investigating domestic livestock injury claims.
