The Sangamon County Department of Public Health is seeking applicants to perform duties primarily as a R.N. in the WIC Program. 

Responsibilities
  • Certifies WIC clients as defined in the WIC Policy and Procedure manual.
  • Conduct health screenings, including measuring height, weight, and hemoglobin levels.
  • Attend seminars, workshops, and educational trainings related to WIC for professional growth and grant requirements
  • Educate clients on importance of breastfeeding and provide referrals to breastfeeding peer counselors
  • Evaluate applicants dietary and feeding practices to identify potential risk factors, needs and concerns
  • Maintain and follow policies and procedures related to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
  • Promote positive health outcomes for participants following internal and State of Illinois policies and procedures
  • Schedule appointments for clients and maintain client records

The work assigned to this position may not include all possible tasks in this description and does not limit the assignment of any additional tasks for this position.

This position is covered by the AFSCME #3738 union.

Requirements
  • State of Illinois Registered Nursing license in good standing
  • A valid Class D Illinois Driver’s License
  • Applicants must be a resident of Sangamon County or be willing to move into the County within 6 months of employment. 
  • Ability to use personal automobile with proof of current insurance

Monday – Friday

8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.  (Monday)
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  (3 days per week)
8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  (1 day per week)

$64,000.00 yearly / $32.82 hourly

2 weeks paid vacation | 12 paid sick leave days

3 paid personal days   | 13 paid holidays per year

4 weeks Maternity/Paternity paid time off
