The Sangamon County Department of Public Health is seeking applicants to perform duties primarily as a Registered Dietician/Nutritionist in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.

Responsibilities

* Evaluate participant's dietary and feeding practices to identify potential risk factors, needs and concerns.
* Educate clients on importance of breastfeeding and provide referrals to breastfeeding peer counselors.
* Promote positive health outcomes for participants following internal and State of Illinois policies and procedures.
* Maintain and follow policies and procedures related to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
* Attend seminars, workshops, and educational trainings related to WIC and FCM for professional growth and grant requirements.
* Schedule appointments for clients and maintain client records.
 

Requirements

Requires a current State of Illinois Registered Dietitian license or a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition Sciences, Dietetics, Community Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition, a valid Class D Illinois Driver's License, use of personal automobile and proof of auto insurance. Applicants must be a resident of Sangamon County or be willing to move into the County within 6 months of employment. This position is covered by the AFSCME #3738 Union.

Skills

Excellent communication skills, dependability, and the ability to utilize software to input data.

Benefits

Work hours are Monday-Friday
8a-7p (Monday), 8a-430p (3 days per week) and 8a-1p (1 day per week)

Salary: $56,869.94, 2 weeks paid vacation, 3 paid personal days, 12 paid sick leave days and 13 paid holidays per year. Individual and Family health, dental and life insurance options, retirement plan & mileage reimbursement.
