The Sangamon County Department of Community Resources is seeking applicants to perform duties primarily in the Community Service Black Grant (CSBG) Programs.  The CSBG Intake Worker completes intake for all CSBG appointments, maintains client files and clerical work associated with the program, assures the maintenance of client records and support documents in strict confidence and security. Using the Single Tracking and Reporting System (STARS), intake worker manages applications for service. Verifies client information and maintains a resource file of other social service agencies and programs with which the Department may work to assure client needs are being met.

Responsibilities

Duties:

1.            Schedules client intake appointments for all programs and performs full CSBG intake interviews.

2.            Works with the client/applicant to complete the necessary forms and copy the necessary documentation to support each application.

3.            Maintains an awareness of potential sources of other assistance for clients, and the ability to make referrals in the event the Department cannot fully meet their needs.

4.            Attends required training on C.S.B.G. programs.

5.            Takes messages for personnel unable to answer incoming calls.

6.            Greets and directs visitors and clients to the appropriate personnel.

7.            Answers non-technical inquiries and conducts initial screening for all programs.

8.          Performs other duties as may be assigned or required

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

1.            Possesses a working knowledge of standard office practices and procedures and a familiarity with Business English, grammar, spelling and commercial mathematics.

2.            Possesses firsthand experience with day to day use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.

3.            Knowledge of and ability to utilize data management systems.

4.            Some work experience involving public contact, preferably in an office environment and some familiarity with multiple phone lines.

5.             Ability to meet and communicate with the public.

6.             Performs other duties as may be assigned or required.

7.              High School Diploma or GED, Associated degree preferred but will consider experience

8.              Family and Community Development certification within one year of hire.

Benefits

Work Hours:  Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.  Salary:  $31,000 - $34,000;

2 weeks paid vacation, 3 personal days, 12 paid sick leave days and 13 paid holidays per year.  Individual Family health, dental, and life insurance options, and retirement.
