Sangamon County Seeks RFQ Responses for Atrium Artwork

Sangamon County posted a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) public notice today as it seeks to find qualified professional artists who could eventually be invited to install a large-scale work of art in the entrance of the newly constructed Sangamon County atrium space.

Sangamon County Chairman Andy VanMeter appointed a talented group of community members to an advisory committee that will be making final recommendations for the art to the Sangamon County Board.  This advisory committee includes representatives from the local art community, elected officials, county employees, and community leaders.

"The advisory committee is open to reviewing applications from qualified artists that have experience in art that can be installed on the floor or art that might hang from the ceiling,” said Andy Van Meter, Chairman of the Sangamon County Board.  “We are hoping that many talented artists reply to this RFQ to give our advisory committee many options to consider for this very important location in the county’s new atrium space.”

These public art commissions are open to all professional artists, artisans, artist-led teams, and firms.  The full criteria and more information about the location and timeline are listed in the RFQ, which is posted here.

After the committee receives responses to the RFQ, it will narrow the pool of applicants and will invite a few of them to create concepts that will be considered in the final selection process.

The deadline for artists to respond to the RFQ is October 31, 2023, by noon.  No late entries will be accepted.
