The Sangamon County Recorder's Office is looking for a clerk to do recording, indexing and verifying of documents.

Responsibilities

Recording:  Accepts and reviews all documents submitted for recording to determine that all statutorily required information is present and correct prior to recording.  Maintains cash drawer and balances daily work at the end of each workday.  Assists the public with recording and office related questions and if needed directs the customer to the appropriate section or county department.

Indexing/Verifying:  Inputs all pertinent information from the recorded documents as well as correcting any indexed errors from previous recordings.  The indexed information is reviewed in audit for any errors or missing information.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent;  at least 2 years relevant office experience.

Skills

Knowledge of grammar, spelling, organizational, and communication skills; basic computer and typing skills; ability to accurately proofread in a timely manner; ability to follow written and oral instructions; and ability to use various software programs including Word, Excel, Outlook.

Benefits
