Temporary Closure of Woodside Road Announced for Road Widening Project
As part of the ongoing Woodside/Iron Bridge Road improvement project, Sangamon County will be implementing a temporary closure of Woodside Road to ensure the safety of workers and the public during construction.
Closure Details:
- Location: Woodside Road will be closed west of the railroad tracks and east of Chatham Road.
- Purpose: This temporary closure is necessary to safely facilitate the widening of Woodside Road, a key component of the infrastructure upgrade.
- Timeline: The County’s goal is to reopen the road before the start of the school year, pending weather conditions and material availability.
Traffic Detours:
Changeable message signs have been placed in advance to notify drivers of the upcoming closure. During the closure, detour signs will be clearly posted to guide traffic. For example, drivers heading south on Chatham Road will see signage indicating that Woodside is closed at the railroad tracks, with instructions to turn right.
Additional Notes:
- Notices will be sent to utility companies and the general contractor regarding tree-related work in the area.
- The County determined that a temporary closure was the safest and most responsible solution to proceed with road widening efforts.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to improve local infrastructure. If you have questions or concerns about the closure, please don’t hesitate to contact the Sangamon County Highway Department.
