Candidate Filing Period Closes for November General Election

Sangamon County Clerk Don Gray announced that the filing period has closed for established party, new party and independent candidates seeking placement on the ballot for the November 2026 General Election.

A full listing of candidates who filed is attached and is also available on the Sangamon County Clerk’s website.

The deadline to fill vacancies created after the March 17, 2026 Primary Election is August 26, 2026. The deadline for write-in candidates to file is September 3, 2026.

The 2026 General Election will be held on November 3, 2026. The first day to request a vote-by-mail ballot is August 5, 2026. For more information, residents may contact the Sangamon County Clerk’s Office at (217) 753-8683 or visit the County Clerk’s website: countyclerk.sangamonil.gov.
