Chatham Library to Host Passport Registration Event with Circuit Clerk’s Office

Residents planning future travel will have an opportunity this weekend to apply for a passport close to home, as the Chatham Area Public Library partners with the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office to offer a special passport registration day.

Passport agents from the circuit clerk’s office will be on site from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, at the library, located at 600 E. Spruce Street in Chatham. The event is designed to provide a convenient, local option for residents who need to apply for a passport, with standard passport fees applying. Current processing timelines are available through the U.S. Department of State.

Individuals who are unable to attend Saturday’s event may still apply for a passport in person at the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office in Springfield, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding weekends and court holidays.

Applicants attending the Chatham event are required to bring a certified copy of their birth certificate, a valid photo ID, and certified copies of any court orders related to name changes, custody, or adoption, if applicable. Two checks or money orders are also required to cover the necessary fees. Passport photos can be taken on site.

Additional information is available at sangamonpassports.org, or by contacting the circuit clerk’s passport office at 217-747-5183.
