Sangamon County Board Hosts Opening Reception for New Art Exhibits

The Sangamon County Board hosted an opening reception on February 10 recognizing new art exhibits now on display in the Sangamon County Building. The exhibits were installed in partnership with the Springfield Art Association and the Illinois Prairie Pastel Society as part of the County’s ongoing effort to highlight local artists and cultural organizations.

Artwork displayed throughout the building includes pastel pieces created by members of the Illinois Prairie Pastel Society. Display cases feature stained-glass projects by Morgan Behnke and students from the Springfield Art Association’s stained-glass classes, as well as ceramic works by local artist Scott Day.

Community members attended the reception to view the newly installed exhibits and learn more about the artists and organizations involved.

The exhibits will remain on display through the end of April and are open to the public during regular business hours at the Sangamon County Building, located at 200 S. 9th Street in downtown Springfield.
