Sangamon County Board Vacancy in District 16

The Sangamon County Board Office has begun accepting applications from individuals interested in filling the County Board District 16 vacancy, following the retirement of Greg Stumpf .

Under Illinois law, the County Board Chairman is responsible for nominating an individual to fill the vacancy, subject to confirmation by the County Board. Applicants must be affiliated with the same political party as the departing officeholder, which for District 16 is the Republican Party. Applicants must also be registered voters within District 16 and have resided in Sangamon County for at least one year prior to the appointment.

A boundary map of District 16 is attached and is available on the Sangamon County website at sangis.maps.arcgis.com.

Individuals interested in applying are encouraged to submit a resume, letter of interest, and any additional supporting materials, such as letters of recommendation, by email to County@SangamonIL.gov or in person at the Sangamon County Board Office, 200 S. 9th Street, Springfield, IL 62701.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on October 2. Interviews with potential nominees will occur the week of October 5, with an appointment expected to be made at the October 13 County Board meeting.
