Sangamon County Historical Society Seeks Artifacts for Women’s Baseball and Softball Exhibit

The Sangamon County Historical Society, in partnership with the Sangamon Valley Collection, is developing a new exhibit that highlights the history of women’s baseball and softball in Sangamon County. The exhibit will be on display at the Sangamon County Complex beginning in May 2026.

We are asking community members to lend or donate items that help document the role of women athletes in the county. These may include uniforms, gloves, photographs, documents, and related materials from teams that played in Sangamon County or Sangamon County residents who competed elsewhere.

Contributed materials will be curated as part of the exhibit to show the breadth of participation and achievement by women in local baseball and softball. The display is intended to make these stories accessible to the public and to recognize the impact of women athletes in the region.

Items and inquiries should be directed to the Sangamon Valley Collection by February 10, 2026. Contact the Sangamon Valley Collection at 217-753-4900 or svc@lincolnlibrary.info for more information or to arrange contribution.
