Sangamon County Shares New Aerial Update for Woodside–Iron Bridge Construction
Sangamon County has released its latest aerial update for the Woodside–Iron Bridge Road project, publishing new drone footage documenting construction activity throughout December. The video captures the project site under winter conditions, with snow-covered ground providing a view of ongoing earthwork, bridge preparation, and roadway development along the corridor.
Providing these monthly updates is part of the County’s commitment to keeping residents informed as one of the region’s most significant transportation projects moves forward. The drone footage allows the public to see progress that is often not visible from nearby roads and provides a consistent reference point for tracking how the project evolves from month to month.
The Woodside–Iron Bridge project aims to improve safety, roadway capacity, and long-term reliability for motorists traveling between Woodside Road and Iron Bridge Road. Construction began earlier this year after extensive planning and coordination, and work will continue into 2026 with phased improvements to the roadway, drainage systems, and bridge structures.
Residents can view the November video and access previous updates, project background, and contact information through the Woodside–Iron Bridge project page at sangamonil.gov/woodside-iron-bridge. The County will continue releasing monthly footage as construction progresses.
