The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office has introduced a new mobile application designed to give residents easier access to law-enforcement services and public safety information. The app, titled The Sheriff's App, is now available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The platform serves as a centralized hub for many of the tools the public regularly uses, including inmate search, sex offender information, jail details, records requests, news updates, and non-emergency tip submissions. It also provides information on programs such as TRIAD and senior services, the Sheriff’s Explorers, court security guidelines, and upcoming community events. Users can view current employment opportunities as well and apply for positions directly through the app.
One of the key features of the new system is its ability to deliver push notifications and real-time updates. The Sheriff’s Office will use the app to share important safety information during emergencies, such as severe weather, major incidents, road closures, or other public safety concerns. Officials say the tool is intended to supplement existing communication systems by giving residents another reliable way to receive timely and accurate information. The app is not intended for emergency reporting, and users are reminded to call 911 in urgent situations.
Sheriff Paula Crouch said the goal of the project is to make it easier for residents to stay connected with their local law-enforcement office. “This app puts important information and resources in one place, making it easier for the public to stay informed and engage with the services we provide,” Crouch said.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to download the app and explore the features now available.
