The Sangamon County SMART Department is seeking applicants to perform duties as a Public Transportation Driver. 

Must be able to:

• Drive and pre/post trip all types of SMART vehicles
• Maintain interior and exterior cleanliness
• Assist clients with mobility devices and packages to and from the vehicle
• Understanding the objective and communicating with staff and riders in a professional confident manner is a MUST!

* High School diploma or GED

* Must be at least 25 years of age

* Valid Illinois driver's license with a clear-driving record

* Ability to pass drug/alcohol screening and background check

* Ability to pass a physical and driving record check

* Must be a resident of Sangamon County

* Must be able to work shifts as assigned 

Knowledge of State of Illinois Driving Laws. Ability to drive and be out in all kinds of weather. Ability to bend, stoop and kneel as needed to assist client needs. Ability to carry 40 lbs. short distances. To be able to navigate by program, map or oral direction throughout Sangamon and Menard Counties. Ability to document time and transactions accurately. Strong customer service and communication skills.

Salary: $39,520/yr
Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30-4:00pm may be some slight variation-40 hour week, 30 minute lunch

6 month probationary period with Individual and Family health, dental, and life insurance options. After 1 year, 2 weeks paid vacation, personal days, sick leave days and 13 holidays per year. IMRF retirement
