The Land of Lincoln Workforce Alliance (LLWA) seeks a Workforce Advisor to provide employment and training services through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WOIA) program. The LLWA is a five county workforce consortium with funding provided by federal grants.

Entry level case management position that provides outreach, intake, orientation, and eligibility determination duties for federal grant program, Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA).  Develops new initiatives for program delivery as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provides individual vocational counseling and job search assistance to customers and      community
  • Conducts one-on-one interviews with customers to assess training and service for workforce programs available under the WIOA.
  • Provides all levels of career and training services to eligible customers.
  • Provides case management and vocational/employment counseling with customers from throughout the area of Cass, Christian, Logan, Menard and Sangamon Counties.
  • Conducts suitability determinations utilizing assessment tools, budget information, labor market information and information gathered through customer interviews.
  • Prepares files for presentation to the approval committee.
  • Upon approval, determine financial needs of the client and work with fiscal department to obligate such.
  • Obtains and reviews appropriate documentation for program eligibility, develop customer file, and complete data entry into state database system.
  • Certifies individual client eligibility and provide information to clients with regards to    allowable registered program services.
  • Act as a mentor/coach for assigned WIOA participants.
  • Assists in promoting workNet services for the five-county workforce area.
  • Facilitate the dissemination of WIOA informational/marketing materials to customers, partner organizations and community.
  • Research employment and performance outcomes and process participants for program exit.
  • Develop workshops on various topics related to job search, training opportunities and career development.
  • Increase awareness of technology to customers utilizing the Resource Room.
  • Perform other duties as may be necessary or assigned by the Director.
  • Adhere to the philosophy and policies of the Land of Lincoln Workforce Alliance and Board.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred in social service, education, workforce development, human resource management or related area; Combination of education and work experience may be considered. Two years professional work experience in social services.

Skills

Knowledge of workforce issues, community resources and labor market information; computer literacy (Microsoft products) including proven knowledge of database systems and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people; written and verbal communication skills and problem solving ability; ability to provide excellent customer service.
