The Sangamon County Department of Public Health is seeking applicants to perform duties primarily as a Family Support Worker. 

Responsibilities

* Attend relevant workshops, seminars, and trainings for personal growth and to maintain a professional understanding of the Healthy Families Initiative in Illinois. 
* Educate parents on essential concepts including good parenting skills, how babies grow and develop, and how to keep babies safe. 
* Home visiting program that are family centered and strength based to assist families in strengthening parent-child relationship.
* Improve family support system and establish individual goals for each client.
* Increase family's ability to problem solve and assume the role of advocate for themselves and their children.
* Manage and provide client-centered and culturally competent services to children and their families.
* Participate in a multi-disciplinary team for staffing, family needs and make recommendations for goals and service deliverables.
* Willing to engage in building reflective capacities.

Requirements

* A valid Class D Illinois Driver's License
* Applicants must be a resident of Sangamon County or be willing to move into the County within 6 months of employment.
* Ability to use personal automobile with proof of current insurance.
* Experience in working with or providing services to children and families
* An ability to establish trusting relationships
* Experience and humility to work with culturally diverse families
* Knowledge of infant and child development
* Acceptance of individual differences
*Infant mental health endorsement preferred

* A  Bachelor's degree in human services, behavior science, social science or a health related field 
 

Skills

* Ability to maintain strong relationships with peers and clients.
* Experience with community based social service programs
* Strong attention to detail

Benefits

Work hours: 8a-430p - Monday-Friday
Salary: $54,416.60-$58,416.60/annually
2 weeks paid vacation, 2 weeks sick leave days, 3 paid personal days, 13 paid holidays per year

4 weeks maternity/paternity paid time off
