The Supervisor of Assessments Office is looking for a Data Processing - Customer Service Representative-, Real Est Transfer Clerk

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

*Property Tax Exemptions: From knowing who qualifies, the effect on the property tax bill, to assisting in the application process as needed, cross trained on many internal exemptions for property tax.
*Performing data entry, information verification and retrieval utilizing an iSeries (AS400/Tyler) computer system/platform, scanning and verifying documents.
* Developing a thorough understanding of the Property Tax System, the functions of our office and how we interact with other government offices.
* Reading legal descriptions, work sheets, deeds, transfer declarations, property record cards, and use of GIS parcel mapping system
* Assisting Township Assessors
* Working with both alpha & numeric filing systems
* Scanning of documents & filing of exemptions
* Document retrieval utilizing a Fidlar Laredo system
* Waiting on the counter and answering the telephone as needed
* Working with other offices
* Assisting with other office duties as needed or assigned by supervisor
 

Requirements

Must be detail oriented, able to operate a multi-line telephone, Windows based computer & printer, mutli-function photocopier and calculator. Additionally, must be able to read, understand and explain assessment and property tax information, be able to perform basic math calculations. 

Skills

Must possess good public relations skills, to deal effectively and respectfully with people over the telephone and face-to-face.

Benefits

Hours of work: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm  Rotate days 8:30am to 5:00pm (except holidays when the county building is closed)

Benefits available: Medical, dental & life insurance. Pension, IMRF. Vacation, sick & holiday pay. 

Starting Salary: $35,197/annual.
