The Sangamon County Department of Public Health is seeking applicants to perform duties primarily as a Clerk Typist II in our Environmental Health Division.

Responsibilities

*Types a variety of complex material including records, reports, correspondence and other documents.
*Provides non-technical information and assistance in person and by phone to representatives of other agencies, clients and the general public.
*Provides clerical support to the environmental health staff by assisting with processing permanent and temporary food establishment license permits, septic system applications, water well applications, refuse disposal hauler annual licenses as needed.
*Records and files septic and well applications, enters permit data in Excel, collects and files well sampling data, sends post approved permits to owners and contractors, collects and catalogs well sealing forms and non-community water forms in Excel; and records and enter complaints received, as well as the inspection data, and collects and enters aeration contract renewals. Provides support with letters and correspondence relating to the Private Sewage and Water Well programs.
*Records E.P.A. inspection reports and sends copies to E.P.A. contacts.
*Inputs complaints and types correspondence for the Environmental Health programs.
*Provides support to the Environmental Health Supervisor and as department Receptionist as needed.
*Provides back-up suuport to Animal Registration Clerk by issuing rabies tags to walk-in clientele as needed.
*Provide clerical support to Food Program by creating Word documents, assisting with public educational projects and working with Excel documentation.

Requirements

*A valid Class D Illinois Driver's License
*Applicants must be a resident of Sangamon County or be willing to move into the County within 6 months of employment.

*Prior experience maintaining property records or legal documents
*Prior experience working with billing

*Possess excellent interpersonal skills
*Strong verbal and written abilities
*Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Benefits

This position is covered by AFSCME Union.

Salary:$44,150.29-yr/$22.64-hr; 2 weeks paid vacation, 3 paid personal days, 12 paid sick leave days and 13 paid holidays per year. Individual and Family health, dental and life insurance options, retirement, and mileage reimbursement are available. 4 weeks maternity/paternity paid time off
