The Sangamon County Zoning Department is seeking a Clerk Typist to perform general clerical duties of the department, type a variety of materials, performs routine typing, answer the telephone and direct calls to appropriate staff, and maintain office files.

-Type a wide variety of materials (reports, documents, meeting notices, minutes of meetings, correspondence, etc.) from oral or written instructions; and, proofread materials for accuracy and correctness of spelling, grammar, punctuation, format, etc
-Answer telephone and take messages and answer routine inquiries regarding zoning and liquor policies and procedures received by telephone, in person, or by mail. Direct inquiry to appropriate staff for response
-Maintain filing system; receive, sort, and prepare material for filing; file and retrieve material from system upon request or observed need.
-Operate a variety of office machines and equipment completing assigned duties
-Perform other duties as required or assigned

* High School diploma or equivalent required

*Excellent typing skills
*Excellent organizational ability
*Proofreading skills 
*Proficient computer program literacy, including knowledge of MS Word and Excel
*Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills
*General knowledge of office processes and procedures

Work hours: Monday-Friday with hours between 8:00am and 4:30pm
Salary $38,401- $42,552 based on experience. 2 weeks paid vacation, 3 personal days, 12 paid sick leave days and 13 paid holidays per year. Individual and Family health, dental and life insurance options and retirement.
