Riverton Library to Host Passport Registration Day This Weekend
Residents of Riverton and surrounding communities will have an opportunity to apply for a passport close to home this weekend as the Village of Riverton partners with the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office to host a passport registration day at the Riverton Village Library.
Passport agents from the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office will be on site Saturday, January 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the library, located at 1200 E. Riverton Road. The event is intended to provide a convenient and accessible option for individuals needing to obtain a passport without traveling to Springfield. Standard passport fees will apply, and applicants are encouraged to review current processing times through the U.S. Department of State before submitting an application.
Individuals attending the registration day must bring a certified copy of their birth certificate, a valid photo ID, and any certified court documents related to name changes, custody, or adoption. Approved passport photos are required, though photos may be taken on site. Payment for applicable fees must be made using two checks or money orders.
Those unable to attend the Riverton event may apply in person at the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office in Springfield Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding weekends and court holidays. Additional information is available at sangamonpassports.org or by calling the circuit clerk’s passport office at 217-747-5183.
